The Mothers’ Union/ Women's Guild of St Philip's Anglican Church, Gwarinpa took off formally on the 25th of May, 2017 with a prayer meeting tagged “Lay your burdens at His feet” with 17 women in attendance. The women have their fellowship every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month with variety of activities such as prayer meetings, practical classes, seminars/talks on different topics affecting women, bible studies, etc. They also have the Prayer Convocation which is a power packed one day prayer conference that takes place yearly to build the prayer life of women. Thirteen (13) women (10 Women’s Guild and 3 Mothers’ Union) and fourteen (14) girls were enrolled into the Mothers’ Union and Women’s Guild on the 17th of December, 2017.
The Women have a Welfare unit that coordinates visitations to members who notify the women of their celebrations and any other need as guided by the women constitution.
The Women also have the Women Choir- the Glorious Minstrels- that minister during church services once a month and during women's monthly meetings and any other special program.
Due to their fast growing number, the women have been broken down into 5 groups - Deborah, Dorcas, Esther, Lois and Lydia groups. These perform various roles in the church and women ministry while reaching out to members in need.
The women have a WhatsApp page (08028820630) that enables them to keep in touch, to share daily uplifting devotionals, and receive updates on every matter that concerns them. They also share good moments of birthdays and wedding anniversaries together. They have an ‘open day’ (every Saturday) when members are allowed to advertise their goods and services on the group page. A prayer cycle for all the women is also maintained on the page. In general, the activities on the page are well controlled with no unnecessary ‘copy and paste messages or videos’.
Project for 2018:
The women have decided to build an industrial kitchen and get cooking equipment in preparation for the hosting of any Diocesan, Archdeaconry or Church Programme. Funds are been raised for the actualization of this project in 2018.
We pray for God's wisdom, grace and strength to carry on these good works in His vineyard. Amen.
